Capacity of multi-channel cognitive radio systems: bits through channel selections
The channel capacity of multi-channel cognitive radio systems is studied with the assumption of limited sensing capability. The randomness of sub-channel selection is utilized to convey information. Two types of sub-channels, memoryless and finite state, are considered. For both cases, the separation of sub-channel input distribution optimization and sub-channel selection policy optimization is...

Cognitive radio (CR) has emerged as a promising technology to improve spectrum utilization. Capacity analysis is very useful in investigating the ultimate performance limits for wireless networks. Meanwhile, with increasing potential future applications for the CR systems, it is necessary to explore the limitations on their capacity in a dynamic spectrum access environment. However, due to spec...
متن کاملCapacity Limits for a Cognitive Radio Network under Fading Channel
In this paper, performance evaluation of a cognitive radio network is conducted. The analysis is based on stochastic network calculus. The system is supposed to work in a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) mode with fixed slot length. The wireless channel is modeled as a Gilbert-Elliott (GE) fading channel, where the channel quality transits between state ON and state OFF according to a Marko...

Multi-channel MAC Protocol in Cognitive Radio Networks
Cognitive radio represents an efficient way to utilize the available spectrum in Wireless networks by offering the unlicensed users (Secondary users) the opportunity to use an available spectrum for the licensed users (Primary users) when they are not active. In this paper, some cognitive MAC protocols are discussed with a brief introduction to Multi Channel MAC protocols.
